Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become a member?
There are a number of ways:
- You can register electronically on YPColumbus.org (hyperlink to this)
- You can fill out a membership form at any YPC event
- You can reach out to YPC’s Membership Chair by emailing membership@ypcolumbus.org
Annual membership dues are $30.
What qualifies as a YP?
Let’s look at the two words separately to provide some better context:
- Young: Anyone who feels that they are still young is qualified. Typically the term “young professional” indicates that they are between 22-45, but obviously folks a bit under or over that range can benefit by becoming a member.
- Professional: While many of YPC’s members work in a professional setting, whether it is a corporation, non-profit or firm, our membership also includes artists, service workers, the self-employed, entrepreneurs, students, and everything in between.
How can I get more involved?
- YPC offers a variety of ways outside of events to get active, learn, make a difference, and have your voice be heard.
- Our organization is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Each Board member heads up a volunteer committee that tackles an operational or programming aspect of the organization (i.e. Philanthropy, Membership, etc.)
- So there are many opportunities to get involved and help drive YPC’s mission. By doing so, you will gain priceless experience in managing and running a non-profit organization and serving on a committee or Board that many YPs may not have the opportunity to do early in their careers.
What makes YPC different than other groups?
- YPC is a 501(c)(3) organization, which means we have to operate like a non-profit company. We adhere to bi-laws and stick to a mission that tasks us with creating development opportunities for our members. Everything we do is based on the focus of developing our members personally and professionally.
How can my organization partner with YPC?
- Partnerships, sponsorships and support from community leaders and small businesses is pivotal for YPC’s success. As a non-profit organization, working with entities around town make us stronger and help us fulfill our mission of connecting our membership with the community.
- Over the years, YPC has worked with many organizations over our history. Click here to see a list of some of our partners/sponsors.
